RODBUSTER

Workman assembling reinforcement rod (rebar) in a form

A Rodbuster is a worker who installs steel reinforcing rods, known as rebar, into a concrete form before the concrete is poured. Though rod-busting is a separate skill, it is usually under the umbrella of the iron worker division or union. On smaller and open shop projects, the task is often performed by multi-skilled workers or the carpenters who build the concrete forms. Rodbusters must have a high degree of physical agility and a good background in math and geometry. Often the work is at a high elevation where knowledge of safe practice is required.
