Panhandle Wind Farm, Amarillo Texas
Pattern Energy Group has announced that it has begun construction of Panhandle Wind, a $400 million wind farm in Carson County Texas. Mortenson Construction is the General Contractor.
This project will create more than 200 construction jobs at peak of construction. The Panhandle Wind Project includes 118 GE wind turbines, a 345 KV substation and transmission lines connecting to the Competitive Renewable Energy Zone. The facility is expected to come online in August 2014, offsetting more than 900,000 tons of CO2 each year.
Carson County Texas. It is part of the Amarillo metropolitan area. As of the 2010 census, its population was 6,182. Carson is named for Samuel Price Carson, the first secretary of state of the Republic of Texas. The seat of the county is Panhandle.
