Idaho, Pocatello, Polysilicon Mfg. Plant Aug. 2007 The Shaw Group Inc. has been awarded a $260M contract to perform engineering, procurement and construction management services for a 2,000 metric ton-per-year polysilicon manufacturing plant for Hoku Materials, Inc. in Pocatello, Idaho ___________

Arizona NW. Desert Rock Power Sept. 11, 2007 Fluor Corporation announced it was awarded a contract by the Desert Rock Energy Company LLC to provide initial comprehensive program management services for the design and construction of a 1,500 MW power plant consisting of two coal-fired power generation units located in northwest New Mexico. Desert Rock Project is a joint development effort of the Navajo Nation's Dine Power Authority and Sithe Global Power, LLC of Houston, Texas. The full contract award is expected in mid-to-late 2008 once the air permit and financing are secured. ___________

FL. Orlando, Coal Fired Power Plant Thread Started on Sept 11, 2007 Officials representing Southern Company, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), the Orlando Utilities Commission (OUC) and KBR Inc., on Monday, Sept. 10, will break ground on an advanced 285- megawatt integrated gasification combined cycle (IGCC) facility near Orlando, Fla. The new generating station will be among the cleanest, most efficient coal-fueled power plants in the world. ___________

Eastman Chemical Co. has awarded Fluor Inc a $1.2 M pre-construction engineering contract for a $1.6 B gasification project in Beaumont, Texas. Scheduled to come online during 2011 the plant will convert refinery leftover petroleum coke into synthetic gas. ___________

Shell Refinery Port Arthur Texas Thread Started on Oct. 2006, Jacobs Engineering Group is chosen for design, procurement and construction management of the Shell oil refinery project at Port Arthur Texas. The project is expected to be completed in one year. September 2007- Shell announced and additional 7 Billion expansion that will make the plant one of the biggest in the world. The project is being built by a joint venture between Bechtel and Jacobs Engineering to be completed by 2010 ___________

NY, New York UN Refurbish « Thread Started on Jul 30, 2007, 2:30pm » Skanska USA Building Inc. has been selected to do the pre-construction planning of the $1.9 B United Nations refurbish project. Construction should begin early in 2008, Skanska is in a favorable position to receive the $1B construction Job contract. ___________

The plant is being engineered by ICM Inc. of Colwich, Kan. General contractor is Fagen Inc. Construction started in November 2006, Startup scheduled for first quarter of 2008 ___________

GA. West Point, Kia Plant, « Thread Started on Oct 14, 2006, 9:23pm » Ground Breaking this month $2 billion Kia auto plant at west point Georgia. The developers and media are rather mute about the contract details. Maybe they will soon be forthcoming. Historically this type of project is managed by a Merit shop GC without a union friendly PLA ___________

North Carolina, Duke Energy Power « Thread Started on Jul 21, 2007, 5:54am » Shaw Awarded Engineering, Procurement and Construction Contract for New 800 MW Supercritical Power Plant and Flue Gas Desulfurization System by Duke Energy Carolinas, LLC, as part of the Cliffside modernization project at Duke's existing Cliffside Steam Station in Rutherford and Cleveland counties, North Carolina. The value of Shaw's EPC contract is valued at approximately $1.29 billion. ___________

Georgia, Savannah, LNG Terminal « Thread Started on Jul 21, 2007, 5:49am » CB&I Awarded Contract for LNG Expansion Project CBI has been awarded a contract by Southern LNG, Inc. to further expand the Elba Island LNG terminal near Savannah, Georgia. The $200M EPC contracts includes a 200,000 cubic meter LNG storage tank The project is expected to be completed in 2010. ___________

Texas, Franklin, TXU power plant « Thread Started on Jun 22, 2007, 2:22pm » Fluor Corp. hired by TXU Corp for $1.8 billion to design/build its coal-fired Oak Grove power plant in Robertson County Texas, The first of two units is scheduled for completion in 2009 and the second in 2010. ___________

Michigan, Niles, Indeck Energy « Thread Started on Jun 11, 2007, 8:10am » Michigan, Niles, Indeck Energy Indeck Energy plans an Ethanol plant in the Niles Industrial Park. Fagen Inc. will construct the facility with groundbreaking expected during the second quarter of 2008. ___________

Alabama, Mobile, ThyssenKrupp Steel Mill « Thread Started on May 11, 2007, 12:34pm » May 11, 2007 German steel maker, ThyssenKrupp announced today that it will build a $3.7 billion steel mill near Mobile Alabama. The new plant will create 29,000 construction jobs and will eventually employ 2,700. Plant 0peration is expected to begin in 2010. Construction management details have not yet been released. ___________

Arkansas, Fulton, SWEPCO Power Plant « Thread Started on May 6, 2007, 10:37am » The Shaw Group has received a $700M contract as part of the $1.3B, 600 MW power plant for Southwestern Electric Power Company (SWEPCO) in Fulton Arkansas. The plant is expected to create 14-hundred construction jobs and to be completed in mid-2011. Fagen Inc. is on site to construct a $170-million 100 million gallon per year facility for First United Ethanol, LLC (FUEL).
