Advantages and Disadvantages of 2024 Subaru Crosstrek

Overview

The 2020 Q50 fails to live up to the standards of its German sports sedan competitors, such as the Audi A4 and the BMW 3-series. While it looks sleek and stylish and can move swiftly, it falls short in areas like comfort, handling on back roads, and control feedback. To be competitive within this class requires a balance of these elements; however, unfortunately for those seeking luxury sedans with top performance - the Q50 does not measure up.

Engine, Transmission, and Performance

The Q50 is powered by a powerful 300-hp twin-turbo V-6 engine and seven-speed automatic transmission, making it incredibly agile. We tested the last version of this vehicle and found that it could accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.9 seconds! The shifts are so smooth you almost can't detect them; even when they're activated with paddle shifters on the steering wheel. Our test car was a Sport model complete with 19" wheels for extra style points.

The ride of that car was shaky and sometimes severe, yet it is plausible that the Q50's standard 18-inch wheels could have soothed this issue. The steering is light but not agile and does not offer much feedback. Infiniti's optional drive-by-wire system, known as Direct Adaptive Steering, may be a hyped-up feature; however none of its accessible modes give the same level of feedback or progressive force during cornering like one would experience behind the wheel of an excellent vehicle.

Fuel Economy and Real-World MPG

In terms of fuel economy, the Q50 did not perform particularly well in comparison to other models. Even worse, its rear-wheel drive variants only marginally outperformed their all wheel drive counterparts by 1 or 2 mpg. Fortunately though, during our real-world testing for an all wheeled V6 Q50 model we were exactly able to meet expectations with a 27mpg EPA highway rating - slightly better than what was achieved from both a Kia Stinger and Jaguar XE!

Safety and Driver-Assistance Features

Although the Q50 has not been evaluated by NHTSA, it did obtain partial evaluation from IIHS. Although an array of driver-assistance tools can be acquired, none are included in the base trim.

Is the Infiniti Q50 a reliable car?

We expect the 2023 Q50 to be more reliable than other new cars. This prediction is based on Infiniti's brand history and the previous models of the Q50.

Are INFINITI engines reliable?

Are Infinitis reliable? Generally, yes, but some Infiniti models are more reliable than others. Overall, they tend to be known for having strong powertrains. Infinitis tend to get a good amount of positive feedback from their drivers and can last longer than the average car with the right maintenance.
